Paul Campbell on the Pressure, Joy & Tears Behind ‘Three Wisest Men’

Hallmark will soon debut “Three Wisest Men,” the third and final installment of the “Wise Men” movies. Ahead of the November 15 premiere, Paul Campbell talked about some of the challenges they faced in making this highly anticipated film. Of course, there were plenty of positives to offset the challenges.

Paul Campbell Felt Pressure to Deliver a Great Finale
On November 4, Us Weekly shared a short interview with Campbell, who not only stars in the movie but has also co-written all three films. He admitted, “We felt a little pressure” with the third movie to deliver what fans expected.

Campbell noted that the pressure felt more intense than what they experienced with the second movie, because they felt they needed to “really deliver.”

“Finales are always challenging, right? They’re pretty polarizing,” Campbell pointed out. He continued, “Some fans really get on board; sometimes they miss the mark. We felt we wanted to nail it.”

Luckily, Campbell revealed, that pressure faded away once everybody was on the film set. Instead, he shared, they “just got lost in the joy of making the movie.”

The cast and crew of the trilogy grew quite close over the past few years since they filmed the first movie, “Three Wise Men and a Baby.” After wrapping the third and final film, Campbell shared, “I’d be lying if I said we didn’t shed a little tear as a group.”

He also noted there was a touching group hug after the final cut of the final scene. “It was pretty emotional. We’ve been with this family for four years,” Campbell pointed out.

Hallmark Fans Are in for a ‘Fun Ride’
Campbell is joined by his fellow “Three Wise Men” co-stars, Andrew Walker and Tyler Hynes. The three play the Brenner brothers, Stephan, Luke, and Taylor. Margaret Colin, who plays Barbara, the mother of the Brenner brothers, returns for the final film, as does Kimberley Sustad.

Walker previously talked to EntertainmentNow about the upcoming film. Sustad and Campbell wrote the first movie, and they brought in Russell Hainline to help with the second. The three teamed together for “Three Wisest Men” as well.

“Kimberley is all the heartfelt dialogue, and then Paul kind of colors in all the humor. And then together, they’ll tackle a lot of the bigger scenes,” Walker explained of the writing dynamic.

He added, “Then Russell is an amazing writer, and just works so well with them.”

“I tell you what, people are in for a treat. Yeah, it’s gonna be a fun ride,” Walker promised.
