At the World Bird Sanctuary in Missouri lived Murphy, a bald eagle who couldn’t fly due to an old injury.
In 2023, Murphy began doing something extraordinary — he built a nest and started protecting what he believed was his “baby.” But it wasn’t an egg.
It was a rock.
Caretakers watched him guard, brood, and love that stone with absolute devotion. Then fate intervened — an orphaned eaglet arrived at the sanctuary.
So, the team made a gentle swap. They replaced Murphy’s rock with the little eaglet.
And Murphy accepted him instantly.
He fed him, sheltered him, protected him — and became a father in the truest sense.
Even though he could never fly again, Murphy showed the world that love, care, and purpose can take flight in ways we never expect.
