On the latest episode of Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett Smith opened up about her personal health journey, bringing viewers along to the hospital as she underwent her first colonoscopy. The episode, which also featured her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, her son Jaden Smith, and several medical experts, highlighted the importance of gut health and the need for regular screenings, especially as people age.

In an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE, Jada, 50, shared her thoughts following the procedure, admitting that while she felt “so relaxed” and “great,” she was still feeling the effects of the anesthesia. “Sticking cameras in your booty. That’s a little cumbersome, you know,” she said sleepily, adding with a chuckle, “For a moment, I had a bit of a panic when I first started. I was just like, I got scared, but I just want people to know that it was a very easeful process. I feel good. I feel extra good because I’m on the other side.”

Jada’s willingness to share such a vulnerable experience not only destigmatized the procedure but also made it more approachable for her audience. It served as a reminder that taking care of our health should be a priority, regardless of age, and that sometimes, the most important step is just showing up for ourselves.
