Does Lane Kiffin have an interest in leaving Ole Miss?
Kiffin is the top name attached to the college football coaching job at Florida after the program fired coach Billy Napier after a 3-4 start to the 2025 season.
The Gators have not been the most competitive team despite coming in with expectations. Just last month, Gators assistant coach Jabbar Juluke was suspended for three games for his involvement in an altercation before Florida’s 20-10 Week 3 loss to LSU.
As a result of his behavior, Juluke missed Florida’s games against No. 4 Miami, No. 8 Texas, and No. 10 Texas A&M. The Gators went 1-2 in those games. Florida Gators defensive lineman Brendan Bett was also ejected last month for spitting at the South Florida Bulls.
Now that the head coach is gone, Lane Kiffin is the name to watch.
According to John Talty of CBS Sports, “Florida AD [Scott Stricklin] had been doing his due diligence on the Ole Miss coach this season and made calls to those around Kiffin.”
Despite the recent reports, there’s buzz surrounding the Ole Miss administration getting ready to give Kiffin a new deal, according to Athletic Director Keith Carter
“Of course, I’ve been talking with Jimmy (Sexton) and I’m going to be proactive with working out a deal with Lane and Jimmy,” Ole Miss AD Keith Carter told the Ole Miss Spirit last week. “I’d love to get something done like Indiana did with Curt Cignetti before the silly season starts.
“We’ll see. I believe Lane’s happy here, but you never know what can happen with coaches. That’s why I’m being proactive in this process.”
