“They could not give Stephen Miller a good news cycle if they tried,” Katie, 34, said during a Monday, April 27, appearance on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle. “They had to make me the target.”
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller did not use his pregnant wife, Katie Miller, as a shield during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner shooting.
She added, “To that I would say, Stephen did a phenomenal job and he was behind me and protecting not only me, but our baby.”
Katie, who is pregnant with her and Stephen’s fourth baby, attended the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner alongside her husband on Saturday, April 25. When shots were fired outside the ballroom, footage showed Stephen, 40, helping his wife off the ground and moving her in front of him.
“How do you stand up eight months pregnant from the floor? You really can’t without help. So my dear husband lifts me up,” Katie recalled on Monday. Katie further claimed that her and Stephen’s security detail told them she should go first. “The threat was behind us.”
